family of feetHi again foot fans! It’s Dr. Jeffrey Adler Podiatrist, Double Board Certified Ambulatory Foot Surgeon, blogging again. The topic for discussion today is: Heredity.

Unfortunately, the majority of foot problems are unavoidable because we are genetically predisposed to get them. Most people do not realize that 95% of foot problems are hereditary. Take note the next time a family member says Oh, my aching feet!”

Common foot problems that are hereditary are:

  • Bunions
  • Hammertoes
  • Flat Feet
  • Gout
  • Ingrown Toenails
  • Toenail Fungus

Feet are not supposed to hurt. You can learn more about the foot problems above in our patient education library. If you’re worried you’ll have some of the above problems someday then you should have your feet evaluated by a podiatrist at Adler Footcare.  Even though foot problems are hereditary, early diagnosis and intervention is the key to avoiding the problems as best as you can.

So what can you do now for your possibly future foot problems?

If you’re concerned about current or potential foot problems Adler Footcare can help. Today, many podiatrists, including us at Adler Footcare, use the latest digital diagnostic tools, such as F-Scan and digital x-rays, to identify potential foot problems. In addition, we use non-invasive or minimally invasive treatments to help relieve the pain caused from current foot problems. We use these approaches so you can avoid suffering both now and in the future.

Adler Footcare is recognized as a leader in modern podiatry. Both of our offices in Midtown Manhattan and White Plains, New York, are tranquil settings, designed for the comfort and convenience of our patients. Once seated in the comfortable podiatric chair, the medical staff at Adler Footcare provides all services in the patient’s exam room. This includes physical therapy, diagnostic testing, and non-invasive treatments. In addition, if a patient needs minimally invasive surgery for their foot problems the procedure can be performed in our Accredited Podiatric Operating Suite by the same medical staff that we know you will come to love and respect.

Modern podiatrists at Adler Footcare:
