If you’ve decided you’re ready to get treated for your foot pain, but you haven’t consulted with a New York podiatrist yet, then consider visiting Adler Footcare New York. Dr. Adler was recently featured on the 77 WABC radio show “Living Better with Laura Smith.” Below is an excerpt from the interview where Dr. Adler explains that you won’t have to visit different offices or specialists. Excerpt from “Living Better with Laura Smith” on 77 WABC:
LAURA: Tell us what makes Adler Footcare stand apart from everyone else?
DR. ADLER: We joke that we’re a one-stop-shop. Everything is done in our office. We do everything from digital x-rays, sonogram, nerve conduction testing, vascular testing, physical therapy available on premises, and the operating suite. Basically when you come to our office that’s it – everything you need including an osteopath on staff who can evaluate neck pain and back pain and other issues you may have.
LAURA: What are the alternatives Adler Footcare provides compared to other foot doctors?
DR ADLER: Number 1 – we provide rapid pain relief. Our motto is feet shouldn’t hurt and neither should their treatment. So basically as soon as you come to us even on the first visit we will start using our technology. One of the things we have is called a MLS or cutting edge laser. This is 3 lasers in one that helps relieve discomfort. It’s used by most sports teams throughout the country. Very few offices in this area have it. It’s a ridiculous looking thing. You have light shining on you so you wear sunglasses, but it takes care of the pain. We get that going right away. It works all over the body.
The second thing that we do is we try to cure things. We always attempt to get you to a point where you don’t need us anymore. We lose more friends this way!
LAURA: You’re all about getting to the root cause and getting rid of it.
DR. ADLER: Correct. That’s why we do a lot of diagnostic testing before we do any type of invasive procedures. We’re most famous for our minimally invasive procedures; typical bunion, hammertoe, dropped metatarsal, nerve procedures that are done from pinprick openings, no stitches, no pins, no time off your feet, and you’re walking immediately. You’re not going to run down the street, but you’re walking! We call it ambulatory surgery. One of my patients called it “hobble-atory surgery” because you hobble around for a couple weeks, but that’s basically it.
LAURA: At Adler Footcare [minimally invasive surgery] is the way to go. Do you offer other types of treatments?
DR. ADLER: Basically, most of the people that come to us come for a reason and we talk to them and educate them. It’s your body. We’ll do what you want, but we’ll tell you the best way we think to go - basically it’s your choice. If you’re coming to us, most people choose what we do, and that’s offering high tech ways of getting rid of pain.
One of the newest things we’re using now is called HyProCure. It’s a little titanium stent that goes in a minimally invasive incision on the side near the ankle. It goes into the foot, so basically people don’t need orthotics. It takes care of a lot of knee pain, heel pain, and things like that. We’re the only ones in the New York area doing that. We actually have the inventor of the process as a consultant with us.
LAURA: People do all sorts of crazy things before taking care of their feet. How does somebody know when it’s their time to really take it seriously and go see someone as advanced as you at Adler Footcare?
DR. ADLER: The earlier the better, but most people see us when the pain lasts. People do things like icing their feet, getting into wider shoes, doing massage, putting padding on the foot – when that stops working, which it will eventually, that’s when they come to us. By that time the foot is kind of beat up. The earlier you can do it the better because we do see people from time to time who come in with a little problem that is cured right away with surgical methods and they’re on their way. But don’t be afraid. We’re not going to hurt you. Nothing that we do causes you any discomfort. Even the surgery. Podiatrists rank around dentists in terms of who people want to go to. Don’t be afraid we won’t hurt you.
