painful_jointsWalking is the first thing you do in the morning, unless you are barely awake and literally crawl of out bed! Walking is the second most common unconscious function of our body next to breathing. When your feet hurt your entire quality of life seems to diminish because you are reminded of the pain with every step you take. When you are experiencing foot pain your feet are also signaling to you that something could be wrong in another area of your body. We talk a lot about how custom orthotics can help correct foot problems and ease foot pain. Now there is a new and improved treatment option available as an alternative to custom orthotics called HyProCure®.

The #1 Reason for Foot Pain

If you do a repetitive action long enough, it’s going to start causing you pain. For example, if you’re at your favorite concert and you clap after every song, it won’t hurt. But if you continually clap your hands for the entire concert, they’ll start to sting, your wrists will get sore, and your arms will get tired. If you put gloves on, you’ll mask the pain for awhile, but it will start to hurt again. The only way to stop the pain is to stop clapping. This is called cumulative trauma and is the result of repetitive physical strain applied to a certain area. It’s also the leading cause of foot pain because excessive abnormal forces are being put on feet with faulty structures.

HyProCure® vs. Custom Orthotics

Foot inserts that are made for an individual’s unique foot structure, called custom orthotics, slip into a shoe to correct an abnormal walking pattern caused by the foot not bearing weight properly. This could be related to issues such as flat feet, heel pain, bunions, excessive pronation, and issues causing misalignment in the feet due to hereditary factors, vocation, excessive exercise, or poorly fitting footwear. The misalignment in the feet is the keyword here because it can lead to strain and issues in other parts of the body such as knees, hips, and back.

When the ankle rolls inward it causes misalignment in the feet and secondary problems in the rest of the body. HyProCure® is a minimally invasive procedure, which means it is done by making a small incision in the foot or ankle that pushes a stent in the natural space between the ankle bone and heel bone to prevent the ankle bone from rolling in. There is no screwing or drilling involved. This stops or decreases the abnormal, excessive motion.

Which Treatment is Right for You?

If you’re experiencing foot and ankle pain it’s important that you are evaluated by a podiatrist to determine the best option for you. In general though, custom orthotics are an external fix that only addresses immediate symptoms and not the root of the problem. They are often tried first to help with the foot pain, but they will only mask the pain and offer a limited fix.

HyProCure® has helped over 25,000 patients and is an internal fix to correct the actual misalignment of the foot and ankle by eliminating the underlying cause. This helps correct secondary problems in the body, such as pain in the knees, hips, and back, as well as giving people back their quality of life and allowing them to do what they enjoy.
