You can ask your New York Podiatrist anything!
Certain questions are difficult to ask a doctor. Some issues that pertain to your feet might be hard for you to inquire about, since feet generally aren’t a normal topic of everyday conversation. Some questions that you may be embarrassed to ask your Board-Certified New York podiatrist include:
1. Why do my feet smell?
The answer to this question is simple – sweat. When your feet sweat, they become a moist buffet for bacteria that feast on the oil and skin cells on your feet. Depending on the strain of bacteria, your feet may smell like corn chips, vinegar, ammonia or even rotten eggs. According to the Nemours Foundation, about 10 to 15 percent of people have feet that smell really bad due to their feet being extra sweaty. Those with excessively sweaty feet attract the bacteria Micrococcus sedentarius, which causes feet to smell like rotten eggs. Some medications and hormonal changes may contribute to your feet smelling, too.
