Here at Adler Footcare of Greater New York we are passionate about feet but also supporting good causes. Two years ago we were the sponsoring podiatrist for Anna Judd—a young woman who ran across the country in support of veterans.

Anna ran from Southern California to New York, specifically the location of where the Twin Towers used to stand, in support of veterans.

We’re thrilled to announce that Adler Footcare of Greater New York is listed as one of the most credible foot health websites to follow in 2016. We want our patients – as well as potential patients looking for answers to their foot problems – to be informed. That’s why we continually provide information about your foot care needs. The New York podiatrists at Adler Footcare would like to introduce Dr. Melvin B. Hurt, who joins the team at Adler Footcare bringing 25 years of experience as a podiatric surgeon with him.

Our very own Dr. Alex Tievsky has been invited to speak at the FIP World Congress of Podiatry in Montreal, Canada May 26-28, 2016. This event is held every three years and attracts participants from all around the world.

Dr. Tievsky will be presenting on the topic of “Weight Bearing 3D – CT Imaging for the Private Practice,” which gives podiatrists the ability to view a loaded foot in 3 dimensions to help plan foot surgery.

Did you know that April is Foot Health Awareness Month? Your feet are the only pair that you’ll ever have, so it’s important that you take care of them. Especially since most Americans log an incredible 75,000 miles on their feet by the time they reach age 50; and by the age of 70, the average person will have walked the equivalent of 4 times around the globe.

Today's podiatrists want to keep America walking with a new campaign lead by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).

Do you enjoy or avoid shopping for athletic shoes? Some people get a thrill from walking into the shoe store, smelling that new-shoe-smell, trying on different shoes until they find “the one,” and then walking out in a brand new pair, empowered and ready to run.

On the flip side, others dread shopping for new shoes because their current pair are comfortably broken in. A new pair will only result in starting back at square one, going through the painful ordeal of finding the right fit for their foot problems, such as bunions, hammertoes or plantar fasciitis. But that doesn’t have to be the case. Adidas has unveiled a different of kind sneaker – check it out below.

At Adler Footcare, we like to stay informed about hot topics in the news. The Born to Run debate is one of those topics about how and why running causes you foot pain. Learn about the book and the debate getting heated between podiatrists and barefoot running advocates. 

High-heel shoes seem to be a necessary evil for women. They are necessary because women like the way they look, they tend to dress up an outfit, and accordingly to the fashion magazines each season, they are always on trend in some form. High-heels are an evil because of the foot and ankle problems they cause, briefly explained in the excerpt below.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a separate lane on the sidewalk for those people who constantly walk and text and don’t pay attention to where they’re going? Texting has become a primary method of communicating in our daily lives. We’re all guilty of walking and texting, which tends to slow down our pace, cause us to run into something or someone, or just be completely clueless.

Dr. Jeffrey Adler was honored at the 8^th Annual Medical Conference hosted by The Graham International Implant Institute in April, receiving the “Eclipse” Award for outstanding community awareness of the importance of aligned feet.
