Back in June we wrote a blog announcing Adler Footcare as the sponsoring podiatrist for Anna Runs America. We wanted to give our blog subscribers an update on Anna’s progress, some highlights of her journey so far, and let you know when she is scheduled to arrive in New York City.

Adler Footcare is supporting Anna Runs America because we believe in her cause and having healthy feet! What better way to build awareness for both? Anna Judd is a young woman running across the country in support of veterans. She left Venice Beach on March 22, 2014, and is heading to New York City. To date she has run a total of 3,400 miles and will be ending her adventure in New York City on Saturday, August 23, 2014.

Once Anna reaches New York she will have run for 156 days, approximately four months, straight. She runs an average of 30 miles a day, with Sundays off, and carries 22 rocks in a backpack to symbolize the amount of veterans who reportedly commit suicide each day. As she makes her way through different towns across America she invites veterans in the area to run alongside her for a few miles.

Anna’s journey will end at the location where the Twin Towers used to stand. For her final 13-mile stretch she is inviting people to run into the city with her. The run will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 23 at the George Washington Bridge [on the New Jersey side]. There will be a half way point at 6 miles at 11:30 a.m. at the Columbus Circle for those not wanting to run the entire length. Judd and her accompanied runners will then end at 1 p.m. where the Twin Towers once stood.

Along her journey, Adler Footcare has given Anna medical advice about the foot problems she may experiencing. Some of these include:

  • Blisters
  • Calluses
  • Heel pain
  • Arch pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Even knee, hip and back pain

We also sent her a foot-cooling device that replaced the need for her to ice her feet and legs every single day. Even though Anna will experience some foot pain for awhile, that isn’t stopping her from running another mile. It will also be important for her to visit a podiatrist if she has foot problems later in life causing her chronic foot pain. We’re committed to helping Anna any way that we can while she’s here. At Adler Footcare we believe feet shouldn’t hurt and neither should their treatment.

If you’re in the New York area on August 23 we invite you to come cheer on Anna and thank her for the awareness she is creating about veteran’s issues, and applaud her for reaching the finish line of her journey.
